Just north of Barcelona in Badalona, Platja dels Patins de Vela hosts the city's official dog beach — a great alternative to the sometimes crowded Platja de Llevant, and easily reachable by public transport. The dedicated dog zone covers around 900m² of fine sand behind the Mireia Belmonte Municipal Swimming Pool, fenced off from the rest of the beach with buoys marking the swimming area. Open daily during the summer season from 12pm to 7pm, the zone welcomes dogs with microchips and has a recommended capacity of 40 dogs. Staff are on hand to manage access, check chip identification, and keep the area clean. Free entry for both dogs and owners. A solid option for Barcelona dog owners looking for a slightly quieter, less busy beach experience just a short train or metro ride from the city centre.
