Can Dendê is one of Poblenou's brunch pioneers and has been a neighbourhood favourite since 2015. Founded by a Brazilian from São Paulo, the café brings a warm, home-cooked sensibility with subtle Brazilian touches — the name itself references the dendê palm, source of the oil at the heart of Brazilian cooking. Dogs have always been welcome here, a nod to the founders' own deep bond with their dog Dendê, after whom the café was named. The menu is small and well-executed: eggs Benedict, savoury pancakes with pulled pork, sweet pancakes with red fruits and crème fraîche, fried green tomatoes, and Brazilian pão de queijo. The space is compact, bright, and informal, with floor-to-ceiling windows and a terrace. Expect a queue at weekends — no reservations taken.
